Nancy was an amazing woman who was a huge part of Yankee for many years and a recipient
of the highest Yankee honor, the Marty Avidisian Service Award. She
was a longtime player, coach, and official and was loved by many. She passed away in the summer
of 2010 after a long battle with cancer. Yankee now dedicates the Women's C Championship in her
honor and memory.
The women nominated for the award should play at the C-/C/C+ level, and exemplify everything that Nancy stood for: good sportsmanship, a love of volleyball, and being a great teammate. Patty DesMaisons was the inaugural recipient.
