2009 Yankee Championships
Championships will run the first 3 weekends in May.
All championships will be one day tournaments (no qualifiers)
with prizes for 1st, 2nd and the MVP.
Championships will offered at the following levels:
Men's/women's: C-, C, C+, B-
Men's/women's Regionals: B, BB, A/AA
Coed/reverse coed(CR-men's and women's nets no BR): C-, C, C+
Reverse coed only (RCO-womens net only with BR): B-, B
Ratings requirements are listed below
Schedule:
As noted at the top of this page. (Locations are subject
to change due to gym availability and the number of registered
teams.)
Yankee Championship Registration:
Register first on-line at http://www.yankee.org/roster, enter in team/captain
information there and an initial roster. After your submit your roster,
you will be shown a Yankee Championship Entry Form that you will need to
print out and mail along with a check. Please separately register and use
distinct team names if you are entering more than one team for a particular
championship.
Registration Deadline:
Mail must be Post-marked by April 15th.
Cancellation deadline (w/refund):
April 21st
All teams registered after April 15th will be put on a waitlist and
acceptance will be based on site capacity.

Scorekeepers and Second Referees:
Teams will need an accredited or certified scorekeeper
and an accredited or certified second referee (down ref).
Only the accredited/certified scorers/refs will be
allowed to work as scorekeepers/refs during championships.

Rosters:
Captains will update/verify rosters via the Yankee Roster page
one week prior to tournament.
Membership requirements:
Players must be full Yankee members (not just one-day sign-ups)
to play in regionals and championships.
Format:
5 teams 8 games 21 points, top 2 make playoffs
6 teams 5 games to 25 points, everybody makes playoffs
7 teams 6 games to 25 points, top 3 make playoffs
8 teams 7 games to 25 points, top 4 make playoffs
9 teams 8 games to 21 points, top 4 make playoffs
10 teams 8 games to 21 points, top 4 make playoffs
11-15 teams 8 games to 21 points, top 6 make playoffs
16-20 teams 8 games to 21 points, top 8 make playoffs
Coed Rev 8 games to 21 points versus the same 4 random teams on both mens & womens height net. 8 games total.

NERVA Regionals & Yankee Championships Pay scale
Playoffs:
All quarter finals: one game to 25 points, switch sides at 13.
If this is a Co-ed, higher seat gets choice of net height.
All semi & finals: 2 games to 21 and if there is a
third game [15 points switching at 8]
* No late starts, random draw at captains meeting
* All tournaments will be a round robin format
* Co-ed & Rev Co-ed will use Super-touch ball only
* Co-ed C-, C, C+ No male BR on womens net
* Rev B- & B women’s net only w/male BR
* Libero uniforms rule strictly enforced
* 4" front number & 6" back number minimum sizes will be enforced.
Yankee Championship Maximum/minimum Ratings:
Ratings are based on the 6 highest rated players on the roster.
For coed, it's based on the 3 highest rated players of each gender.
For most levels, the team ratings are +3/-3
Individual ratings: D = 1; C- = 2; C = 3; C+ = 4;
B- = 5; B = 6; B+ = 7; A- = 8;
A = 9; A+ = 10
For Men's, Women's, CR, & RCO
C- 15/no minimum
C 21/15
C+ 27/21
B- 33/27
RCO B 39/33
Nationals/US Open Ratings:
Ratings for the US Open are the same as Regionals for single
gender tournaments (see below) except there is no minimum
required for the US Open.
Nationals Coed and Reverse Coed Conversions:
B/BB No more than 3 B+, the rest B or below
***In addition, you will not be allowed to have all 3
B+ ratings in one gender. (for example: you may not
bring a team of 3 B+ women and 3 B men or vice
versa)***
Regionals Ratings:
Men's AA: No limit
Men's A: 2 A, 4 A-, the rest below
(An A+ will be allowed IF they take fewer A/A- players)
Minimum for A/AA: 41 points (exceptions will be made for teams
playing A or AA at nationals)
Men's BB: 1 A-, 3 B+, the rest B or below
Minimum for BB: 35 points (exceptions will be made for teams
playing BB at nationals)
Men's B: 4 B, the rest B- or below
Minimum for B: 27 points (exceptions will be made for teams
playing B at nationals)
Women's AA: No limit
Women's A: 1 A, 5 A-, the rest B+ or below
Minimum for A/AA: 41 points (exceptions will be made for teams
playing A or AA at nationals)
Women's BB: 1 A-, 3 B+, the rest B or below
