Scramble Tournaments

Information and Registration

Yankee Volleyball Association hosts scramble tournaments for new and existing members in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
Scramble tournaments are a great way to get started with Yankee volleyball and meet some new teammates.
If you are a new player to Yankee you will be given a legally numbered t-shirt and a player rating.

To play in the scramble tournaments you must register and pay in advance. Instructions on signing up and paying are below.

If you have questions contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Priority will be given to new players over current and former members.
Some spots may be held for new players until the week before the tournament.

Scramble tournaments are full day events held to help grow Yankee's memberships and to give new members an opportunity to get a taste of how a tournament is run and what to expect. This session, Yankee will be holding scramble tournaments in Massachusetts in men's, women's, and coed formats.

How it works?
Players sign up as an individual and are placed on a team with experienced and new players based on their position and Yankee ranking. All participants will receive a full day of play for $30/person.   You have until the Monday before the scramble to cancel out of the tournament with a refund. If you cancel after Monday, you will receive a refund only if your spot is filled.

The format for scramble tournaments are similar to traditional tournaments with a 8:00 am or 9:00 a.m. start time, pool play and playoffs.   Everyone must show up 30 minutes prior to the start time to sign in and pick up a jersey (if you are new).  10 minutes before the tournament we will release your reservation for any wait listed players unless you notify us ahead of time.  Final team rosters will be available at that time.

Please review the cancellation and payment policy for scrambles.

How to Sign Up

Option 1---If you are a current or former Yankee/USAV member in our region--you will need to renew your annual membership if you have not done that yet this season or purchase a single event membership valid for the weekend of the tournament in addition to paying the $35 scramble entry fee using paypal (this membership can later be upgraded to full membership if you play again).

Go to http://yankee.org/memberships/membership-application.  Follow the instructions there to purchase a $30 single event membership OR renew your annual membership for $50.  A single event membership will be valid for both days of the weekend of the scramble if you end up playing in another tournament that weekend.

1. Sign in to the Yankee.org site (instructions here if you have not yet done this: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1e1Dxux1ZXZOnjwet4LGnkSIQnmPXDdGNRYmMB24xAO4/edit
2. Go to the link for the tournament you want to enter (from the list below)
3. Click on 'Sign Up a Team'
4. Enter your name as the team name
5. Select yourself as the team captain
6. Fill out the contact and other information and Click on Submit

Option 2 --If you are a new player to USAV/Yankee  (no previous USAV membership in our region)--you do not need to pay the paypal entry fee--instead you will purchase a single event USAV membership for $30 (which can later be upgraded to full membership).  If you think or know you will play in another Yankee tournament prior to the scramble you are signing up for you should wait to do this and likely will use Option 1 above.  You will still need to follow steps 1-5 below to get your name on the list and the tournament director will follow up with you about payment/membership a few weeks before the tournament.

Go to http://yankee.org/memberships/membership-application.  Follow the instructions there to purchase a $30 single event membership.  MAKE SURE THAT YOU PICK THE START DATE TO BE THE FRIDAY BEFORE THE TOURNAMENT YOU WANT TO PLAY IN!!!!   It will be valid for both days of the weekend of the scramble if you end up playing in another tournament that weekend.  Again, if you will be playing in a tournament prior to the scramble tournament date then you should use Option 1.

After you purchase the membership do the following:

1. Go to the link for the tournament you want to enter (from the list below)
2. Click on 'Sign Up a Team'
3. Enter your name as the team name
4. Select 'Non Member' from the pulldown list as the team captain
5. Fill out the contact and other information and Click on Submit

The tournament director will confirm your position in the tournament after verifying that you have purchased the single event or full membership.

How to Pay--2 options if you are a current or previous USAV member:

1. Pay electronically with paypal--Use the Pay Now button on the tournament registration page to do this.

2. Mail a $35 check payable to NERVA--send the check to Jeffry Powell, 86 Alder Drive, Nashua NH 03060  (for Maine and Connecticut scrambles follow payment options on the tournament signup page)
